OUTLAW #6

Having spotted one of our Outlaws at Monterey Car Week, Outlaw #6 became the dream project of this Outlaw’s lucky new owner. Having found a very tired Lancia Aurelia B20GT deparately in need of rescuing, we knew that it would make an ideal Outlaw project. The latest in the Outlaw series, it has recently begun its transformation from rusting, bare metal body shell. How Outlaw 6 will be customised and tailored to the lucky owner’s vision will be gradually revealed as we progress with the project.

When one of our Outlaws was spotted during Monterey Car Week in California, Outlaw 6 became the latest to be commissioned in our limited series of Lancia Aurelia B20GTs.

The latest Outlaw in our series is currently undergoing it’s transformation to the iconic lowered-roofline in our in-house metal shop. Hours of work are required to reshape the roof to achieve its streamlined and distinctive shape.

SPECIFICATIONS & CUSTOMISATION

Standard Specification

This is configurable to meet personal taste and intended usage.  We are happy to advise on the suitability and availability of any options or ideas you may have; many of ours, based on research and experience, are listed below.

Bodywork

·        Roof line lowered c. 3 inches

·        Roof ‘deguttered’

·        Front and rear wings widened

·        Front indicators eliminated (incorporated into headlamps)

·        Rear lamps B20GT Series 2 style, incorporating indicators

·        External Monza style fuel filler cap

·        Nardi bonnet scoop

·        Internal body stiffening to rear arches, B-post, seat bulkheads and parcel shelf

·        Solid/flat paint colour of your choice

Note: It has always been our desire that each Outlaw should be a different colour.  So far, we have had black (Outlaw 1), dark aubergine (2), dark blue (3) and teal (4).  Colour for Outlaw 5 is yet to be decided. Optional metallic versions of the above colours could be used.

Mechanical/Running Gear

·        Rear and front axles altered to gain negative camber for better handling

·        Custom made propshaft  – to handle additional power

·        Flaminia 2.5 litre engine, replacing original Series 3 Aurelia unit

·        Engine enlarged to 2.8 litres + fuel injection conversion to give 170bhp+ and 200 lb/ft of torque

·        Cylinder heads ported and polished, lightly skimmed

·        Reprofiled camshaft

·        Bespoke aluminium injection trumpets

·        Bespoke design free-flowing stainless steel exhaust manifolds and full system with Lambda sensors

·        Stronger Flaminia transaxle used to replace S3 Aurelia unit– fully rebuilt with new gears and synchromesh throughout

·        Hydraulic clutch conversion with centrifugal hydraulic release bearing

·        Lowered suspension + nitrogen charged bespoke front dampers fitted into existing sliding pillar system, with matching rear shock absorbers – fully adjustable and configurable for compression and rebound

·        Dual circuit hydraulic brakes, adjustable brake bias to rear

·        Disc brakes all round (inboard at rear) – billet calipers and vented disc conversion

·        Bespoke aluminium radiator and oil cooler

·        Bespoke aluminium competition fuel tank with fuel injection pump

Interior

·        Bespoke front bucket seats – various styles

·        Full Connolly aniline leather interior with bespoke quilting

·        Alcantara headlining

·        Full sound-deadening throughout cabin

·        FIA-approved Crow Enterprises four-point safety harnesses

·        Competition steering wheel – with bespoke Lancia logo centre

·        Colour-coded fitted fire extinguisher

·        All fittings bright nickel-plated

·        Individually numbered ‘Fuorilegge’ sill plate

Fixtures and Fittings

·        Custom-made shallower glass laminate front windscreen

·        Custom exterior door handles

·        All previously chromed fittings (e.g. door handles, lamp and window surrounds, radiator grille etc.) replated in bright nickel

·        Elimination of aluminium side mouldings, bumpers and bonnet bright work

·        Jaguar D-Type style 15 inch alloy wheels - standard finish - silver or grey

·        Full set bespoke stainless steel wheel nuts and washers

·        Avon CR6 tyres x 5 (other tyres can be specified at no additional cost)

Options

Most of the options below have been previously specified and fitted but others can be added

·        Left hand drive conversion

·        Fully built-in bespoke roll cage – full or half – can also be trimmed

·        Underslung ‘Tilton’ pedal assembly – no cost option

·        Choice of bucket seat style – no cost option

·        Ferrari competition-style front bonnet catches

·        Period ‘Nardi’ Lancia wood-rimmed steering wheel

·        Air-conditioning  NB: this involves relocation of the hand brake to the gear tunnel
